Ecoli Controlled at Freedom Hall Church for Eleven Years Straight Posted By : Larry Couture

The Ecoli problem got so bad in 1998 for Freedom Hall Church in Ham Lake, Minnesota that the Minnesota Department of Health was routinely closing the church based on weekly tests that showed the presence of Ecoli in their well water despite the automatic pellet chlorinator and filter system they recently leased.

Closing the church facility meant that services were held at the local drive-in movie theater and led church officials to go on an all out search for a solution.

A web search led the Freedom Hall elders to a manufacturer in Minneapolis with root technology based in NASA's fear of moon microbes. On three week missions to the moon, NASA engineers demonstrated the ionic metals generated by electrolysis would be the best microbe defense since the ionic copper was more effective than chlorine against Ecoli, Polio Virus and Legionella. It was also a major benefit that no chemical would be used and that the ionic metal residual would be stable in the spacecraft plumbing and healthy for humans.

After eleven years and three filter replacements, the Freedom Hall Church has remained open without interruption. In fact, the Minnesota Department of Health has reduced the frequency of inspections from weekly to annual and Freedom Hall has been "Ecoli-free" since ionization and oxygenation equipment was installed.

The Freedom Hall Church environment presented several unique challenges because in addition to the Ecoli bacteria, the well had high levels of both iron and manganese. Volume ranged from zero water used on Monday to as many as 2000 gallons on a weekend day, and food was served every Saturday and Sunday.

Equipment installed included a Stenner liquid chlorine feed, a 40 gallon Wellmate retention tank, an oxygen chamber, 10x54 Hydroxite heavy metal filter tank followed by another 10x54 Calgon carbon filter tank to remove the chlorine. An ionic copper chamber delivers .2ppm low level ionization from the treatment equipment to the furthest faucet in the catering kitchen. The site uses conventional bleach as the chlorine and about 20 minutes of maintenance is needed to clean the oxygen and ionization chambers. The world class microbe kill has been documented as trace chlorine and trace copper. In fact, a fad existed in the late 1960's where people were wearing copper bracelets and anecdotally claiming many health and wellness benefits.

Heavy metals are filtered after the oxygen using a natural mineral filter and pharmaceutical carbon removes all chemical residual. The filtration system is engineered to last 5 to 7 years and replacement costs are between $600 and $800, with initial configurations starting at $5995.
